News, news, and yet more news... good news in scarce supply.

*
Republican Sen. Judd Gregg withdrew his name from the position of commerce secretary for President Obama.
Not all that sorry to see him go, never thought it would be a great fit and apparently neither did he.
Wonder if there was any pressure on him to withdraw from his party... yea, I think so.

The Octomom now is asking for money. Really?
What a surprise there. What was she thinking, ah, besides the notoriety?
A single mom, with little or no money, with six kids all ready, having even two more.
Sounds rational to me (not). Poster child for "doing the right thing?"
I was disturbed by one thing I read today though, she is receiving death threats- come on opinion is one thing folks and you/we are entitled to opinion but this isn't something that warrants threatening the woman. Seriously.

Vote on the stimulus package tomorrow.
Well, you know I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting.
Who knows some of that money might trickle down to us mere folk out here.

How about the PA judges that put kids in jail and took kickbacks?
Article on the corrupt judges (the ones they caught)
You have to read it to believe it. Amazing we're talking judges here, great caliber they must have been.
Judge Judy to the rescue anyone? Even our justice system is broken... does anything here work anymore?

Two satellites collide in space one Russian, one from the United States.
Could pose a danger to space station and other satellites.
Great the people on Earth are turning space into a garbage dump... how um, human of us. Space junk they call it.

Salmonella infested peanut butter and now they find rats there. Great. Yummy. think I'll do without peanut butter for a while.
Thanks inspection people, thanks FDA, thanks company that put peanut butter profits before people's health.

Are there any organizations, companies, politicians, or people in general that care more for people's well being than profits out there? If there are and I do believe there are... there certainly aren't enough of them.

I was watching Late Night TV last night flipping back and forth between Night Line, Leno and Letterman to see if anything was worth watching when I was struck by Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman. I couldn't believe it. Watched the whole thing, couldn't help it and I really don't know much about him at all. What odd tension in the interview. Whew. Just a real head shaker.
Got up and found people talking about the train wreck that was Joaquin. Hope he was just out of sorts or something.
If you didn't see it it's here:

Too much going on for my tired mind...
From the sublime to the unbelievable to the outrageous to the depressing to the corrupt, it's all there.
What the hell happened to GOOD NEWS???

Going to bed,
Need some of that elusive sleep thing.
G'night,

Laura
